#69 Multi-Passionate Leadership: Building a Brand Beyond the Career with Dr. ArNelle Wright
Apple Podcasts | Spotify | YouTube
Do you ever feel like there’s more to your story than your career title? That you’re meant to embrace multiple passions, create an impact, and leave a legacy that’s bigger than your 9-to-5? You’re not alone, and today’s guest, Dr. ArNelle Wright, is living proof that it’s not just possible—it’s powerful.
Dr. Wright is a dentist, speaker, community builder, and founder of the Dental Femme community, a space designed for multi-passionate women in dentistry who are ready to own their brilliance. Her journey from a first-year dental student simply sharing her story on Instagram to a respected thought leader has inspired women across industries to think bigger, dream boldly, and take action.
In a recent conversation on the She is Unstoppable podcast, Dr. Wright shared her journey and how she’s helping women redefine leadership. Here’s a glimpse into her story and the key lessons we can all learn from her.
Authenticity Over Perfection: The Key to Showing Up
Like many entrepreneurs, Dr. Wright didn’t set out to build a personal brand. She started her Instagram account over a decade ago to share her dental school journey with friends and family. But what began as a casual outlet turned into something much bigger.
“It wasn’t until the last three or four years that I realized I wasn’t just sharing my story—I was building a brand,” she shared. This realization didn’t come without struggles. Like many of us, she’s wrestled with perfectionism and the fear of putting herself out there. Her advice? Stop overthinking and start showing up.
“People aren’t expecting perfection. Sometimes those imperfections make you more human. And honestly, nobody is paying as much attention to us as we think they are,” she explained.
Takeaway: Start where you are, and let your authenticity do the work.
The Power of Multi-Passionate Leadership
One of the biggest insights Dr. Wright shared was recognizing that women in dentistry—and beyond—are often multi-passionate but lack resources tailored to their needs. This inspired her to create Dental Femme, a community for women who want to expand beyond traditional career paths.
“There’s this perception that once you become a doctor, you’ve hit your peak. But that’s not true. There’s so much more we can do,” she said.
Her community offers workshops, live classes, and tools for women to leverage their skills as thought leaders, speakers, and content creators. “We don’t want to respond to trends—we want to be proactive,” Dr. Wright emphasized. She’s helping women in dentistry embrace their multifaceted nature, build wealth, and create lasting legacies for their families.
Takeaway: It’s okay to be multi-passionate. Your career can be a foundation, not a limitation.
Overcoming the Fear of Showing Up
Feeling the fear of showing up online? Dr. Wright gets it—and she’s here to remind us that those fears are normal. She shared how she manages moments of self-doubt:
- Pause and Reflect: “I check in with myself. What’s causing this? Is it perfectionism? Am I overthinking?”
- Shift Your Mindset: Recognize that most people are rooting for you. “The majority of people want to see you succeed,” she reminded us.
- Take Imperfect Action: “Perfectionism often keeps us stuck. Sometimes, you just have to let it go and move forward.”
Dr. Wright also encourages her community to practice boundaries. If something—or someone—on social media is causing stress, it’s okay to unfollow or take a break. “Even if it’s me,” she laughed, “I want people to protect their peace.”
Takeaway: Focus on progress, not perfection, and give yourself permission to take a break when needed.
Building a Brand with Intention
Dr. Wright’s approach to creating content and driving engagement is a masterclass in strategy. She emphasized the importance of starting with the end goal in mind. Whether it’s a call-to-action (CTA) to engage on Instagram stories or a prompt to sign up for her latest workshop, her content is crafted with a purpose.
Inside her Dental Femme masterclass, Dr. Wright is sharing her step-by-step strategies for building an online presence. From leveraging hashtags to engaging meaningfully with followers, she’s breaking down the exact processes that helped her grow her brand over the years.
“I batch content and plan ahead, but I also let my stories fill in the gaps. It’s about finding a rhythm that works for you,” she explained.
Takeaway: Create with intention, test your strategies, and adjust based on your audience’s response.
The Bigger Picture: Leaving a Legacy
What stands out most about Dr. Wright’s story is her commitment to building something bigger than herself. Through Dental Femme, she’s helping women in dentistry—and beyond—embrace their power, show up authentically, and create a ripple effect of change.
As she beautifully put it, “We want to make more money, leverage our expertise, and leave a lasting legacy for our children and families.”
Ready to Build Your Own Legacy?
Dr. Wright’s story is a reminder that leadership isn’t about doing it all—it’s about doing what matters. Whether you’re a dentist, entrepreneur, or creative, her journey offers actionable lessons on showing up authentically, embracing your multi-passionate nature, and creating a legacy.
If you’re ready to take your brand to the next level, consider joining her Dental Femme masterclass. This isn’t just for women in dentistry—it’s for anyone ready to step into their power and build a thriving online presence.

Dr. Arnel, I am so excited to have you on today’s show. Thank you so much for coming on today because I know you’re crazy busy.
[00:02:51.850] – Dr. ArNelle Wright
Thank you so much for having me. I’m super excited to be here.
[00:02:54.910] – Deanna Hinsz
Oh well, thank you. I was just sharing before we came.
[00:02:57.930] – Deanna Hinsz
On that you and I met because.
[00:02:59.530] – Deanna Hinsz
You were a speaker at she is Leadership conference and you were a hit, everybody. The comments were pouring in about you, so I’m so excited to get to share a little bit more about your knowledge and you in particular.
[00:03:15.920] – Dr. ArNelle Wright
Yeah, thank you. I’m super excited to share with your community and yeah, I hope that I can give you guys some amazing value and you know that you enjoy this time that we have together.
[00:03:28.620] – Deanna Hinsz
It’s going to be awesome. I have no doubts that the listeners are going to absolutely enjoy this. So to start with, you’ve made such a powerful journey in dentistry. Can you share what inspired you to step beyond the clinical practice? Right, because you don’t see many dentists really showing up on social media and online. At least I never had before you. So what inspired you to really start showing up?
[00:03:55.490] – Dr. ArNelle Wright
So I started my account when I was in dental school. I was a first year dental student and I decided that I wanted to start an Instagram account. So I had been on Instagram before the year right before I got into dental school. And then I decided that I would pivot and start sharing dental related content. So that was over 10 years ago. And at that time, I didn’t really have a strategy. I didn’t have a plan. I didn’t have any, you know, idea that I would become like a brand or I would develop, you know, an entire just presence online. I was just showing up just to show up and share my journey of becoming a dentist with people who followed me, me, which at that time were just friends and family. So I was really just inspired by my own personal story and I think that’s what continues to carry me to today.
[00:04:44.850] – Deanna Hinsz
I would agree. I, I mean, I love watching all your adventures because you are on the go. And even for somebody who’s not in dentistry, I am like, oh my gosh, it’s just so much fun to watch you. And I completely understand how you said, like, it was just your Instagram account and you were just pretty much telling a story about your journey. But when did that pivot happen? When you’re like, wait a minute, there’s something going on here. Something a little bit more, oh, you.
[00:05:13.230] – Dr. ArNelle Wright
Know, believe it or not, probably was in the last like three or four years. Once I became more involved into some leadership within the dental profession, that’s when I started to realize that people outside of my friends and family also, like, viewed me as someone that was actually a brand and that I was building something greater than myself. And I think it was really good for, for me to I guess navigate the journey that way. Not really have just like, okay, I want to go and monetize my online presence or I want to leverage it for this. Because that can lead to a lot of disappointments along the way. If it’s not happening in the time in which you think it should, or in the magnitude or the scale, the amount of like collaborations or brand partnerships that we kind of see everyone like gaining right now, but we’re seeing like finished products as opposed to like starting from the beginning. And so with Dental Femme, actually, I know we’re going to get to there at some point, but with Dental Femme, it’s like a brand new thing. It’s a newer community, it’s a newer brand.
[00:06:17.450] – Dr. ArNelle Wright
And so I’m kind of wanting to walk people through the fact that something can actually be built and we’re not seeing it as a finished product. Instead we get to see it in the beginning.
[00:06:27.550] – Deanna Hinsz
I love that. I think you’re speaking to so many people because it’s so true that a lot of times we just want to hurry up and get to the finish line. And that process is just agonizing because it feels like we’re never going to get there. And here you didn’t really even realize that there was a finish line when you started. You were just being authentically. You do want to talk about Dental femme because you have a community, Dental femme community. And it really fills a unique, unique space. So what was missing in your field that you were driven to create this community for women in dentistry?
[00:07:07.810] – Dr. ArNelle Wright
Okay. So whenever we say women in dentistry, I feel like there’s so many organizations out there and we’re all doing amazing things. I think we all have so much value to add to the profession. But what I found was the same thing that we’re talking about right now is that there are so many women in dentistry that are multi passionate. Not only are we multi passionate, but we’re multi skilled or multifaceted. But what we’re taught is once you finish dental school, once you become a doctor, like that’s it, you’ve reached the ceiling. It’s like you’ve reached your peak. But now we’re seeing that the profession is trending towards no longer being male dominated. It’s trending towards being a female dominated space. However, all of the resources have been tailored to our male counterparts. So what I noticed with that data is that we need to be at the beginning of this trend. So we see it’s Coming. We don’t want to respond. We want to be proactive. And so I feel like one of the things that I noticed, not that I feel I noticed that a lot of women would see me in the online space dominating.
[00:08:12.560] – Dr. ArNelle Wright
They will see me on the go, kind of the way you describe, at meetings, on boards, leading organizations, doing speaking, podcasting, all kinds of things. And they would be like, how are you doing all of this? How did you get this, this invitation? How did you get in that room? How did you get this and that? And so I said, you know what? There are more women who want to do the same exact thing that I’m doing. And so I want to fill that void so that we can make more money, we can leverage our expertise and our skill set as thought leaders that we are, and we can leave a lasting legacy to our children and families.
[00:08:49.740] – Deanna Hinsz
Oh, my gosh, I love that you recognize that. So tell us a little bit about this dental femme community. Who is it for? What do you do in there?
[00:08:59.520] – Dr. ArNelle Wright
Yeah, so it’s multi passionate women in dentistry. Anybody that’s a budding entrepreneur in the digital online space. If you are a speaker, if you are a digital creator, a content creator, a social media influencer, which I used to struggle with that idea because I’m like, I’m a doctor. Why do I want to be a social media influencer? But instead of thinking myself as a social media influencer, and for any of the women that are inside of the community or any newbies that want to join in the community, it’s not necessarily a bad thing. You can actually look at it as a thought leader, as somebody who has a perspective, has an experience, has expertise on a specific topic, and you’re putting yourself out there as opposed to just like somebody who’s dancing on TikTok. That’s what I used to think of as an influencer. You’re somebody who people want to follow. And so, excuse me, inside of the dental femme community, once you come inside, we will have workshops, we’ll have classes. There’s going to be a lot of activity happening so that we can actually put our skills to use. And then we can collaborate with one another, using our expertise to help one another get to that next level in business and in our personal goals.
[00:10:15.500] – Deanna Hinsz
You know you’re speaking my language when you say that stuff, right?
[00:10:18.730] – Dr. ArNelle Wright
Yeah, I do.
[00:10:21.140] – Deanna Hinsz
I love all of that. I think I do. I really love all of that. And I believe it’s so important to invest in yourself. And a lot of times we don’t always want to we put ourselves last. So I love that you’re doing this and you’re giving a space for women to show up, to improve themselves, and to know that they’re not alone, because we do feel alone, and, like, we have no support. But that’s the furthest thing from the truth. So I love that this is what you’re doing.
[00:10:49.360] – Dr. ArNelle Wright
Yeah. In the one thing I want to say, on Instagram, it’s easy to feel that you’re in an abyss. Like, everybody is already where you want to be, per se. Right. So when you said you don’t, you love that women are not feeling alone. That’s exactly what I hope to create. It’s a space where women understand that there are other women that are doing the same exact things as them. And you create a safe space for you to talk about those things that you’re doing.
[00:11:18.660] – Deanna Hinsz
Yes.
[00:11:18.980] – Dr. ArNelle Wright
So the fact that you do want to speak for a fee, you do want to podcast or create your own podcast, you do want to influence or have brand collaborations where you’re paid and you’re monetizing that. And so I feel like that’s just an area that we as women and we as people in general, we just don’t talk about it enough. And so, yeah, I just kind of want that space to be created. And I wanted to highlight that point since you brought it up.
[00:11:43.520] – Deanna Hinsz
I’m so glad you did. Thank you for doing that. I think that’s great idea. Thank you. So you show up all the time online, and let’s keep it real. I mean, like, you are not. You’re a dentist and you’re going to conferences, and then you’re showing up, and that’s a lot of time. That’s a lot of work to stay that consistent. How do you do it?
[00:12:08.200] – Dr. ArNelle Wright
Well, so honestly, I define consistency based off of what works for me and my schedule at that time. And so consistency. Everybody’s like, oh, be consistent. Show up four or five times a day, three times a day, three times a week. Believe it or not, I’ve just been doing this for so long, so it looks like I’m on Instagram every single day. But sometimes I may be in my stories, sometimes, and stories are a low lift for me. I don’t feel like I have to be super perfect. I feel that I can go into stories and I can just hang out. That’s kind of like my hangout spot. And I feel like my community, who’s been with me for this period, like, this length of time that I’ve been on instagram as a daily dentist, they kind of just know that that’s like, the first place to go. And so for me, I don’t spend too much time trying to post on my feed right now because my schedule is so demanding. I can just spend more time inside of my stories. And then I do a lot of batching, so I plan all my content out in advance, and then I just batch, and then I schedule and roll it out.
[00:13:06.490] – Deanna Hinsz
I’m over here going, bring it, girl. Bring it, girl. I love it, right? I love it. They say it all the time because you are busy and you do make it look really, really easy on Instagram.
[00:13:17.510] – Dr. ArNelle Wright
And I love them, though.
[00:13:19.580] – Deanna Hinsz
I can tell. I can tell. That’s where you’re showing up, right? And I’ve seen those stories that you’re talking about, and they’re great. But I love that you’re planning. So it’s like, no. I batch content, and then I fill the gaps in with these stories because I am really busy. So if somebody is listening right now, they might be thinking, okay, you know, I hear you, but I’m afraid of putting myself out there and just showing up. Was that ever you or have you ever worked with anybody in your community that was afraid to really show up? And how do you overcome that?
[00:13:56.080] – Dr. ArNelle Wright
Oh, so many good questions. Okay, so yes, yes, and yes, and we’ll get to how do we overcome it in a moment. So what that effort, me, it’s often me, even still to this day. But one of the things that I do oftentimes is I try and get over myself and think of myself a lot less and say, you’re the only person that is thinking like this. Because the majority of people that come by my page or that gives me feedback, they are enamored, they are happy. They want to see me showing up. And I just try and keep that in the top of my mind. And anybody who doesn’t want to be there, they will unfollow. And that happens to me all the time. And I even encourage women inside of my community, like, if there’s something that’s coming into your feet that’s interfering with your joy, your peace, how you feel about yourself in a negative way, you might want to unfollow or you might want to pause. Even if it’s me, if I make it look.
[00:14:50.910] – Deanna Hinsz

[00:15:33.880] – Deanna Hinsz
You see somebody and you know, maybe you’re going through something and you like the person, but then you’re kind of like, oh, like, you know, you’re in that funk mood. You don’t want to see it right now. And it’s okay because I know I’ve been through that. I’ve gone through that before and I read a book and I talk about this book all the time and it’s been years since I read it and it’s called the Saint, the Surfer and the CEO by Robin Sharma.
[00:15:56.440] – Deanna Hinsz
And it is.
[00:15:58.040] – Deanna Hinsz
It’s a simple, easy read. It’s just kind of like fables, but there’s these lessons in it. And when I read that book, the biggest takeaway I remember was and I that I implemented my life right away was that it said, and I’m going to paraphrase here because I don’t remember the exact words, but if there’s anything in your life life causing you stress, whether it’s an extra bill, a magazine subscription, or a person, remove them, remove that from your life because it’s not necessary. And you just said the same thing. And I’m like, oh my gosh, did she read the book?
[00:16:30.990] – Dr. ArNelle Wright
I haven’t read that book. But it’s just a principle that I live by because I feel like we have so many inputs happening all throughout our day and it’s hard to sift through the things. But I feel like we don’t get that permission often from the online space saying like, I know that I could actually me showing up could be causing you some stress. It is. Okay, you know, if you have to take a break, go and come back. You know what I mean? I love it. Yeah. So that’s one. One thing. So that’s one answer is yes, I do struggle. I have struggled with that and there’s women in my community who struggle with that. And I think the other thing that we should do is continue to post and put ourselves out there. If you’re in a funk like if you don’t feel like worthy or if you don’t feel that any, you don’t have anything to say. Those are all mindset shifts that can. That if you shift your mindset around those ideas, then it can change, if that makes sense. So I think that’s another way that I continue to push through is because I recognize what’s a mindset, mindset blocker and how I need to shift in order to make progress.
[00:17:43.450] – Deanna Hinsz
So, you know, Dr. Arnel, I’m going to ask you, what do you do? What is your remedy personally? And I’m sure that it’s different for anybody. It just depends on them. But how do you shift that when that’s happening to you?
[00:17:55.050] – Dr. ArNelle Wright
Sometimes I just take a pause and I’m like, all right, let me understand what the root cause is. Like, why am I feeling this? What has contributed? I try to go through my day and say, all right, who has said anything that I have come into alignment with? I start to check my beliefs. There’s a whole bunch of things. It just depends. It’s a case by case scenario. But for the most part I try and check, like, what’s happening bodily within me, what I’m thinking, what I’m feeling, what were the sequence of events leading up to this moment. And often, to be honest with you, sometimes I just take a break and I’m like, okay, maybe I won’t stress about this post. Maybe I’m trying to be too perfect. And the trying to be too perfect or the perfectionism is actually causing me to not do anything. And so that’s, yeah, that’s typically the thing. It’s causing me not to even take one step because I’m mulling over it, trying to be entirely too perfect. So then once I try and remove that perfectionism, if I just take a moment, do something else, then come back to it, then sometimes I can just zip through and go straight to the content or whatever it is I’m trying to create.
[00:19:03.780] – Deanna Hinsz
Yeah, you know, I try to, I try to make sure that my message is on point when I create content. And I overthink it. I’m a woman, I overthink things, right? But a lot of times what I’ll tell people, although it’s hard to sometimes take my advice, is that like, just do it. Like, yeah, just do it. Nobody, first off, nobody’s expecting perfection. And sometimes those imperfections make you more human. When it’s too polished, it doesn’t feel authentic. So it’s okay if it’s not perfect. And honestly, Nobody is paying as much attention to us as we think that they are a lot of the time. Right. Like, you could repost it in two weeks and nobody will know that you just did that. They’ll just think they’re seeing it again or something. So. So I know it’s funny. It’s funny what we stress on and, you know, what’s important and what’s really not important. So I appreciate you saying that. So you really, I mean, you. You have a very active audience and you’ve got people who are engaged and you have these call to actions too, right, where you’re asking them to do something and it’s not always necessarily a sale.
[00:20:13.460] – Deanna Hinsz
Right. It could just be commenting or what have you.
[00:20:15.720] – Deanna Hinsz
Yeah, yeah.
[00:20:16.640] – Deanna Hinsz
So how do you, like, what advice do you have? Because a lot of times people are afraid to have those call to actions that really drive engagement. They just want to post something because they’re posting something, but they’re not being strategic about it. So how do you craft those, how do you craft your posts so that you can actually drive that engagement?
[00:20:38.460] – Dr. ArNelle Wright
I think it depends on what the end goal is. And so whatever I want the end goal to be, then that’s typically how I craft a message. So I, of course, start with the message. And like inside of Dental Femme, I have this class that’s called reverse engineering and everything. And so I always begin with the end in mind on what the end goal is going to be for that particular post or for this sequence of posts. So I don’t always create a new call to action for the post. Like, I’m not always trying to send my followers somewhere. Sometimes I might just say, hey, go to my stories and come and comment on it there. Or I left a little question for you in Stories, or. You know what I mean? Or if I’m in stories, I will say, hey, look at the most recent post or the second post on my feed. So it’s just sometimes I just might keep them on the platform or just keep them engaging with my content. You know what I mean? So it just depends on what the outcome is that I want them to achieve or that I want to achieve.
[00:21:35.550] – Dr. ArNelle Wright
And then I just tell them to.
[00:21:36.990] – Deanna Hinsz
Go and do that and they listen.
[00:21:40.400] – Deanna Hinsz
And they go sometimes.
[00:21:43.000] – Dr. ArNelle Wright
But, you know, our attention spans are a little short these days, so sometimes people don’t read full captions. So I do a lot of testing too, to see what my audience responds to very, very well.
[00:21:53.420] – Deanna Hinsz
Yeah, I like that. I like that. How often do you think you test?
[00:21:58.420] – Dr. ArNelle Wright
Oh, I test at least Once a quarter.
[00:22:01.380] – Deanna Hinsz
Do you?
[00:22:01.900] – Dr. ArNelle Wright
Okay, yeah.
[00:22:02.570] – Deanna Hinsz
All right.
[00:22:02.990] – Deanna Hinsz
I like that. And that’s so important to do that.
[00:22:05.340] – Deanna Hinsz
Now you.
[00:22:06.530] – Deanna Hinsz
You’ve been working on a masterclass. Am I allowed to talk about this?
[00:22:10.080] – Dr. ArNelle Wright
You are.
[00:22:11.140] – Deanna Hinsz
Okay.
[00:22:11.570] – Deanna Hinsz
All right. Because I don’t want to give too much away, but I want to give enough away that you can. You have the opportunity to talk about it, because it sounds really interesting. Tell me a little bit about this masterclass that you’ve been working really hard on.
[00:22:23.150] – Dr. ArNelle Wright
Okay. Well, I have a few things inside of the community and as it relates to marketing and putting yourself out there. So I have 10 steps that I’m going through and taking the women inside of Dental Femme through to help them build their online presence. So I’m rolling out some content about just, you know, free drip, giving them the tips, like, if you want to do this, show up in stories. If you want to build your online presence, make sure that you’re engaging. If you want to build your online presence, make sure that you’re using hashtags. And then inside of the masterclass is, I’m giving the house. All right. So this is like my strategy with my hashtags. If it’s this particular post, then I’m going to use these hashtags. If it’s this particular hour of the day, I’m going to be trying to seek out engagement. If it’s this particular day of the week. You know what I mean?

So you’re giving all your secrets away?
[00:23:16.530] – Dr. ArNelle Wright
Yes, I want to give because I feel like that’s the thing that people just don’t know. And it’s not. Not really, necessarily my secrets. It’s like something that I’ve developed over time, and it’s just kind of like how my brain works. And I just feel like I want to be able to give this to the women so that they can take their brands and their online presence to the next level as well.
[00:23:37.920] – Deanna Hinsz
I love it. How can they sign up for this masterclass if somebody’s listening? First off, is it only for women in dentistry?
[00:23:44.750] – Dr. ArNelle Wright
No, it’s not for. No, no, no, no. Anybody that really wants to build their online presence, like, yeah, in, like, the online space, in the digital space, entrepreneurial content creation. It’s really for anybody who wants that. But you may hear my call to actions, be specific to my target audience, but I’m not going to turn anybody away. So, yeah, what you’ll see, and I’m being very intentional about this, I started a podcast. It’s called Dental Femme. I started the Instagram brand or the Instagram page, which is where we are going to just engage and hang out. The community is going to be taking off of Instagram and off of the social media platforms so that we can generate like in depth discussion. That’s where the live classes will be held and the replays and things of that nature. But it’s not for only women in dentistry. But I just want to make sure that the women that are in dentistry, I call them out in a way that they know that it is okay for you to have multiple passions outside of your career, if that makes sense.
[00:24:47.420] – Deanna Hinsz
Yes, absolutely. Absolutely. Yeah. Wonderful. Well, Dr. Arnel, I want to thank you so much for coming on and sharing this. This has been wonderful. I love that you shared some of your secrets with us and I tried.
[00:25:00.750] – Dr. ArNelle Wright
To do a little something, something.
[00:25:02.540] – Deanna Hinsz
You did. You did. So thank you so much for coming on. I appreciate it.
