#84 How to Infuse Your Personality Into Your Marketing (and Attract the Right Clients Effortlessly)
What if the secret to standing out in your industry isn’t about doing more… but about being more you?
Too many entrepreneurs get caught in the cycle of creating “safe” content—trying to appeal to everyone, following every trend, and ultimately blending into the noise. If your marketing feels flat, forced, or just not like you, this episode of She Is Unstoppable is for you.
I sat down with Alycia Yerves, an award-winning branding and marketing expert, to dive into exactly how to infuse your personality into your marketing so that showing up online feels natural—and actually works.
And trust me, this episode is gold.
Meet Alycia Yerves: From Broadway Dreams to Branding Queen
Alycia didn’t start out in marketing. In fact, she never even planned to work in branding or business.
She originally pursued theater, moving to Brooklyn to chase her Broadway dreams. But, as many artists do, she hit a wall—struggling financially, living off mustard sandwiches, and ultimately moving back home.
That’s when her marketing career accidentally began.
She took a job at a historic theater, working in the box office, when MySpace (yes, MySpace!) was just becoming a thing. On a whim, she set up a MySpace page for the theater, listing show dates, engaging with audiences, and building an online presence—all without realizing she was already doing marketing.
Fast forward to today? She runs Alycia Yerves Creative, an award-winning marketing agency specializing in branding, content strategy, and helping small businesses stand out online.
And she has one core belief:
YOU are your brand. And the moment you start showing up fully as yourself, everything changes.
The Biggest Marketing Mistakes Keeping You Stuck
So why do so many business owners struggle to stand out? Alycia broke it down, and honestly—it hit home.
Mistake #1: Trying to Be Everywhere (And Burning Yourself Out)
Raise your hand if you’ve ever felt like you have to be on every platform. 🙋♀️
Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Pinterest… the list goes on. And the pressure to “show up” everywhere is real.
But here’s the thing: More isn’t always better.
Instead of spreading yourself thin, pick one platform—the one where your ideal audience actually is—and get comfortable there. Once you’ve mastered it? Then think about expanding.
Mistake #2: Trying to Appeal to Everyone (and Ending Up Forgettable)
Ever feel like your marketing just isn’t landing? It might be because you’re trying to talk to everyone—which means your message is resonating with no one.
Alycia’s advice? Speak to ONE person.
💡 Imagine you’re texting a friend—someone who is exactly the type of client you want to attract. How would you talk to them? How would you explain what you do? That’s the energy your marketing should have.
Because when you start marketing in a way that actually sounds like you, your people will find you—and the wrong ones will naturally fade away.
How to Start Infusing Your Personality Into Your Marketing (Without Overthinking It)
So, how do you actually start showing up as yourself? Here’s what Alycia recommends:
1. Write Like You Talk (Literally!)
Next time you’re writing a social media post, blog, or email, try this:
- Pull up a picture of your best friend on your phone.
- Write your post as if you were texting them.
- Read it out loud—does it sound natural? If not, tweak it.
This small shift instantly makes your content feel more real—and way more engaging.
2. Stop Editing Out the Fun Stuff
Your quirks? Your humor? Your random side notes? They make you memorable.
Don’t strip your content down to “professional-sounding” marketing speak. Let your real voice come through.
3. Make Your Website Sparkle
Your website shouldn’t just be a sales page—it should feel like you.
Alycia shared some quick ways to infuse personality into your website, like:
- Adding a playlist of your favorite music
- Sharing behind-the-scenes photos
- Using colors, fonts, and language that actually reflect you
- Including a fun “about me” section with quirks & fun facts

The Right Clients Will Love the Real You
At the end of the day, people don’t fall in love with logos—they fall in love with people.
If you’re struggling to attract the right clients, start by showing up more as yourself.
Because when you do?
- Marketing becomes easier.
- Your content feels natural.
- And the people who are meant to work with you? They find you.
