The 5-Minute Messaging Fix
That Took My Clients from Crickets to Clients
Ep #95 The 5-Minute Messaging Fix That Took My Clients from Crickets to Clients
She is Unstoppable - Episode 95
Ever post something you knew was good… but it fell totally flat?
Or maybe you’ve spent hours trying to describe what you do — only to ramble, confuse, or get hit with the dreaded “that sounds cool… but what does it mean?”
If your content gets engagement but not leads, or your homepage headline isn’t converting, chances are… it’s not a you problem.
It’s a messaging problem.
And in this episode of She is Unstoppable, I’m walking you through the 5-minute messaging fix that has helped my clients go from invisible to in demand.
Here’s what we unpack inside the episode:
Why your message might be missing the mark (even if it “sounds good”)
Most entrepreneurs make one critical mistake — they write like experts speaking to other experts. But your dream clients aren’t there yet… and when they don’t understand what you do, they scroll right past.
The transformation statement formula that builds instant trust
Learn the exact sentence structure I use with my clients inside Brand Clarity Academy to clarify their brand promise — and use it everywhere (your website, IG bio, LinkedIn, and beyond).
How to use emotional language that your clients would say
Because clarity isn’t about sounding clever — it’s about being understood. And when you use their words (not yours), that’s when magic happens.
What “proof anchors” are, and why they lower resistance to buying
Hint: it’s not just about testimonials. It’s about creating logical trust to back your emotional message.
This isn’t just a messaging tweak. It’s a conversion strategy rooted in psychology — and it works.

Today, I’m sharing the five-minute messaging fix that helped my clients go from invisible to in demand. It’s the exact clarity tool I’m using inside my Brand Clarity Academy. And if you’ve ever felt scattered, overlooked, or frustrated that your content just isn’t converting, stay with me. You’re Who’s going to want this. Welcome to She is Unstoppable, the podcast for ambitious women ready to build a life and business they absolutely love. I’m your host, Deanna Hinsz. For well over a decade, I have been immersed in the world of digital marketing, helping countless entrepreneurs navigate the online landscape. But what truly sets my soul on fire is empowering women just like you to achieve your wildest business dreams with purpose and authenticity.
Deanna Hinsz
With a background in psychology and my own journey from corporate life to full-time entrepreneurship, I have seen firsthand the biggest hurdles my clients face when it comes to truly shining online and articulating their unique value. That’s why I’m here as your brand clarity coach, ready to make building and marketing your online business not just possible, but easier and more aligned with who you truly are. In each episode, we’ll dive into actionable steps, inspiring stories, and real strategies designed to help you amplify your message, boost your confidence, and create unstoppable momentum. Whether you’re just starting out, refining your vision or ready to elevate your brand to the next level, you’re in the right place. Let’s get started. Okay, so let’s get real for a minute. The number one reason most entrepreneurs stay stuck in that content spiral, showing up but not getting clients, is because their messaging just isn’t landing. They’re talking like an expert most of the time, right? And they’ve got that expert to expert conversation going on. But their clients, they’re not there yet. So they don’t really connect with what you’re saying. Here’s an example. And these are real things that I have found online.
Deanna Hinsz
So example number one, I help entrepreneurs build aligned visibility ecosystems using omnichannel strategies, blah, blah, blah, blah, What they’re really trying to say is, I help you get seen online. But here’s the thing, your dream client has no idea what that means. Or how about this one? Empowered transformation for soul-led leaders. Okay, so gorgeous, right? And we see a lot of soul-led, that verbiage right now. But if I’m scrolling past, I’m not sure what problem you solve. And so that means I’m not stopping. I’m going to keep scrolling until I find somebody who’s speaking directly to me. So why did I share those two examples? Well, because they’re more common than not. But here’s what really matters, right? They’re not clear. Clarity builds trust. What those are, they’re confusing. They’re using a lot of those hot words, right? But confusion kills conversions. See, our brains are wired to ignore things that we don’t understand. And I’m going to share something that maybe some of you know, maybe you don’t know. But about five years ago, I had to get hearing aids. Yeah, I was devastated. Frustrated because I felt I was too young to get hearing aids, but there I was.
Deanna Hinsz
So I started wearing them. And if you’ve ever had hearing aids, when you first get them, everything is extremely loud. I’m talking about the water running in the kitchen, right? It just doesn’t sound like the water running. In fact, if your kitchen water is running more times than not, you tune it out. But if you just get hearing aids, it is loud, extremely Extremely loud. I remember walking on the beach with my husband right after it happened, and this beach did not have a lot of seashells, not where you would actually see them. You’d have to hunt for them. But it sound like every step I took, the shells were crunching, and the sound of the water, way too loud. It was awful. When I talked to my audiologist about it, what she said was, is as I get used to it, my brain will actually know what’s important and what’s not. And before I know it, I won’t hear those sounds anymore the way that I hear them now. You see, our brains know what we want to focus on. And if it’s not something we need to focus on, then it just tunes it out.
Deanna Hinsz
And that’s exactly what happened with my hearing aids, and that’s exactly what’s happening with your messaging. If it’s not speaking directly to your ideal client, not in that expert talk, but in words that they totally get, they’re going to tune it out. They’re going to scroll. If they have to think too hard, they’re not going to stick around and try to figure out what it is you’re trying to talk about, what it is that you’re saying. And listen, I know you put a lot of time into coming up with that transformation statement and what you’re doing. But think about your client. If it’s too complicated, if it’s experts speak, they’re moving on. So you’re probably asking, Okay, Deanna, then how do I do it? What do I need to do? So I’m so excited that you asked. So let’s talk about it, right? And this is something that I’m going to go deeper in in Brand Clarity Academy, which is happening in September. I am so stoked about this, but this is just one small piece of it. So the first thing that I want you to do is come up with your transformation statement, right?
Deanna Hinsz
And what that is, it’s just really your one sentence promise. And it’s I help who go from what to what using what method. Let me rephrase that because I said what to what. You don’t know what the what means. But I help who go from what’s the pain point to what’s the result they’re going to see using what is the method. That is your brand’s promise. That’s the transformation that that you deliver. Now, keep in mind, you’ve got to keep it simple. Don’t use all those fluffy words unless your ICA, your ideal client avatar is using those fluffy words. But more times than not, I bet they’re not using them. They just want you to get to the point. Use verbs that are vivid, right? How are they feeling? Use those pain words that actually pinpoint what they feel, frustrated exhausted, overwhelmed, tired, exhausted, and what the result is, right? Use those vivid verbs so that they can feel the emotion behind what you’re saying. And here there’s another piece, right? Keep Keep it under 20 words. Do not make it a long sentence like that first example that I shared where it just went on and on and on.
Deanna Hinsz
Short and to the point. I help who go from what’s the to what’s the result using what’s your method, right? So something like, I help overwhelmed coaches go from invisible to in demand using clarity-first copy. Or I help creatives go from scattered offers to a signature brand that sells on autopilot. Can you feel the emotion behind that? Can you feel the weight just being lifted off your shoulders? If those transformation statements spoke exactly to what you do and to your ICA, you know what I’m talking about. There’s a sense of relief when you realize that this is the promise that’s happening. See, and then that statement, That becomes your homepage headline right in that hero section. That becomes part of your Instagram bio. That becomes part of your intro on LinkedIn. That becomes part of the thought behind every piece of content that you create. This is what you’re doing. This is the pain you’re relieving. This is the result, and this is how you’re doing it. Your message gets super clear. Now your turn, right? I want you guys to really think about what is the promise that you’re making? What’s your transformation statement?
Deanna Hinsz
Sit down, write it down. If you’re driving, don’t do it right now, but sometime today, write down what is your transformation statement. After you do that, what I want you to do is ask yourself, if your ideal client googled that, would they recognize themselves in the result? If you’re not sure, go to Google, type it in, and see what comes up, right? If your client or your ideal client would say, yes, I recognize myself in that. That’s me. If this is how they would describe pain point, then you’re on track. But I’m going to ask you or challenge you to get really real with yourself. Is it how they would describe their pain point, or is it how you would describe their pain point? And listen, sometimes we are so into our business that we think and we believe that it’s exactly how they would describe their pain point. And more times than not, we’re wrong. They would describe it differently. We’re using our expert speak. We’re using what we believe to be true, and we’re missing the mark. If that transformation statement feels too vague or maybe too clever, or maybe it’s with a lot of heavy jargon, rewrite it in their words, not your words, not what you think is going to sound cute It’s about what they would say.
Deanna Hinsz
So if you use that soul-led, that phrase before, which I see a lot of that right now, I help female leaders embody soul-led confidence. That’s super vague. I don’t know exactly what that means. But if you say, I help coaches clarify their offer so they stop over explaining and start converting, now you’re speaking my language. Now I’m like, okay, Okay, you’re clarifying the offers because I tend to over explain and I’m ready to convert. You’re speaking directly to your ideal client. So how would your client say what your transformation is in their own words. And if you’re not sure, there’s a ton of ways you can do this. I share these tips all the time. One is actually set up a call with your ideal client, somebody who has never worked with you before. Ask them for a few moments. I I encourage you to record it because if you just listen, you’re going to miss some of the keywords. I made that mistake before, and I don’t make it anymore. But call them and ask them questions. Don’t lead them with what you want the answer to be. Do not interrupt them. Let them speak.
Deanna Hinsz
And as you start to pull layers away, you’re going to get to the real pain point. You’re going to get to the real result that they want, and you’re going to get their words. That’s the most important thing. Drop that transcript into AI. See what those words are so that you’re very aware of it, and then speak directly to them. Don’t try to make up your own words. So after you do all that, you want to back it up with some trust, something with some credibility, something that your audience will feel safe to take that next step with you. So Maybe you’re talking about how many clients have booked, or how many entrepreneurs you have helped, or where they’re located, or maybe you were featured in some media, or maybe you have gained certain certifications or degrees, right? Whatever it is that is relevant to what you’re doing, back up that transformation statement with some real proof. And this is going to them to trust you more. It’s going to give you some more credibility. So this isn’t just a fun quick copy trick, right? This works because it’s rooted in how people buy. There’s a psychology behind messaging and clear messaging.
Deanna Hinsz
People make decisions based on emotion, and they justify with logic. So if you have a clear promise that has an emotional hook, and you You have that proof anger, right? That speaks to that logical reason to say yes. And when your brand message mirrors what your client, your ideal client’s internal struggle is, they feel seen, and that builds trust instantly. When trust is high, resistance is low. So important to make sure that you’ve got a clear message. And That you’re conveying that. A lot of times when I’m talking to a client, they know what they do. They can explain it. But when we start talking about that transformation statement, it gets so overwhelming and confusing. So please take the time to actually write this down to think about it because it is a game changer. Clear brands grow faster because they’re remembered, right? And when you are clear on your messaging, I I promise you that clarity is a shortcut to conversion. You will start to see people convert. It is not about all those vanity metrics on Instagram or LinkedIn, although they’re great. But I’m going to share a sequel with you. So if you looked at my Instagram, my vanity metrics are not that great.
Deanna Hinsz
I don’t get a ton of likes all the time. I don’t get a ton of comments all the time. Do you know what does happen? Is I get people signing up for my lead magnet. When I log in to see who’s signed up, how many submissions do I have? I am like, this is what it takes. It’s about people actually taking the step to convert, to sign up, to say yes, to join one of your webinars. Whatever your call to action is, that’s when you know when they’re converting, they get you. If they’re not converting, you can have all the likes and comments that you want. It doesn’t matter if they’re not converting. So making sure that they convert is super, super important. All right, guys, you’ve got these steps. It’s clear, it’s client-centered, and it takes less than five minutes to start. So here’s your homework. I want you to write your one-liner. What is that transformation statement? Put some time into it. Make sure that it is what your ideal client would say and not what you think they would say. And then put it through that Google test. Is this something that if you googled it, that would speak directly to your ICA?
Deanna Hinsz
And then add one proof anchor, right? Drop it in your Instagram bio, put it on your website, on your homepage headline. Put in your email signature and watch what shifts. And if you’re doing that, I would love if you take a screenshot and share it with me on Instagram or on my personal Facebook page.
