Apple Podcasts | Spotify YouTube

Listen, friend. I see you.

You’ve built an incredible business through years of hard work, expertise, and genuine passion. But somewhere along the way, the constant buzz of social media marketing started to feel more like noise than opportunity. Today, I’m here to tell you there’s a better way to get visible – without sacrificing your sanity or spending every waking moment creating content.

Why Your Expertise is Your Greatest Marketing Tool

Let’s get real for a moment. Those years you’ve spent building your craft? They’re not baggage. They’re your secret weapon.

Most marketing advice targets twenty-somethings who think hustle means constantly posting and chasing algorithms. But you? You have something far more valuable: deep, nuanced expertise that cannot be replicated by trendy short-form videos or viral dance challenges.

Your experience is a competitive advantage. And it’s time we create a visibility strategy that truly honors that.

The Three Pillars of Strategic Visibility

Based on insights from my dear friend and fellow entrepreneur Deanna Hinze, there are three core elements to building your online presence without burning out:

  1. Your Website: Your Digital Home Base Your website isn’t just a digital business card – it’s your most powerful marketing tool. Unlike social media platforms that can change algorithms overnight, your website is 100% yours. Invest in making it a true reflection of your expertise, using language that speaks directly to your ideal clients.
  2. Email Marketing: Your Personal Connection Platform Forget the myth that email is dead. For established entrepreneurs, email is a goldmine of direct, meaningful connection. By creating a strategic email list with a compelling lead magnet, you’re not just collecting contacts – you’re building a community that trusts and values your insights.
  3. SEO: Your Visibility Amplifier Search Engine Optimization isn’t about technical tricks. It’s about being found by the right people at the right time. By creating content that genuinely answers your ideal client’s questions, you position yourself as the go-to expert in your field.

A 3-Month Roadmap to Visibility (Without the Overwhelm)

Month 1: Foundation Building

  • Audit your current online presence
  • Create an irresistible lead magnet that solves a real problem for your ideal client
  • Develop a welcome email sequence that tells your unique story

Month 2: Strategic Expansion

  • Optimize your website with client-focused keywords
  • Commit to consistent email marketing (yes, even if it’s just monthly!)
  • Start creating SEO-friendly content beyond social media

Month 3: Scaling and Refinement

  • Analyze what’s working
  • Double down on your strengths
  • Adjust your strategy with confidence

The Real Truth About Visibility

Here’s what most marketing “experts” won’t tell you: visibility isn’t about being everywhere. It’s about being exactly where your ideal clients are looking, with a message that resonates deeply.

Your years aren’t a limitation. They’re your greatest competitive advantage.

Quick Wins to Get Started

  1. Interview 3-5 of your ideal clients
  2. Record these conversations (with permission)
  3. Review transcripts to understand their exact language
  4. Repurpose their words in your website copy and content

Whether you’re just starting out or ready to elevate to the next level, you’re in the right place. Let’s get started. Let’s talk about the truth about visibility. Let’s be honest. Social media can feel like a full time job that you never signed up for. Constant posting, chasing algorithms, trying to look perfect. Let’s face it, it’s exhausting. And you, you are too brilliant to waste your energy on digital noise. I want you to show up in a different way. A strategy that leverages your greatest asset, your expertise, your story, and your unique approach to business. So let’s talk a little bit about email because email is your secret visibility weapon. You’ve heard me say it time and time again. It is like the golden ticket. But why is email your power platform? So let me explain it. Imagine having a direct line to your ideal clients. No algorithms, no disappearing content, just pure, meaningful connection. Email isn’t just a marketing tool. It’s your personal stage, your opportunity to showcase your expertise, share your story, and build relationships that turn followers into loyal clients.

[00:02:45.730]

Trust me when I tell you that email is so powerful, and once you start using email for a while, you will actually be able to tell how many people will convert when you launch that new product. When you launch that new course or that service that you’re working on. But let’s back it up a little bit. You might be thinking, okay, Deanna, but how do I build my email list? What do I do? Well, you want to build your list with intention. So the first thing that you want to do is start with a lead magnet. And that lead magnet can be anything that solves a real problem for your ideal client. And I encourage you to interview your ideal client and ask them. And what? Ask them questions to find out about where their pain points really are and what makes them actually decide to purchase a product like yours or a service like yours. And once you do that, you’re going to have some really great ideas of lead magnets that you can create.

[00:03:53.290]

And your lead magnet can be it can be a PDF, it can be a video, it can be a coupon, right? If you’re a retail location, you can provide a 20% off or whatever you want, type of deal or discount to your service or your product. It can be a checklist. It really can be anything you want, but it has to solve your ideal clients problem. You want to make it feel like when that new subscriber signs up, you want it to be an exciting opportunity. So you want to speak directly to them, speak directly to the challenges that they’re facing. And when they say yes and they give you their email and get your lead magnet and finally get on to your email list, it’s a celebration. They are saying their first yes to you and you’re helping them solve their problem. Now you want to make sure that your emails actually do convert. And again, this is so important because the first thing you want to do is when that person signs up for your email list, you want to make sure that you have a welcome sequence set up and ready to go.

[00:05:08.380]

And that welcome sequence is going to be just as excited that they just signed up. It’s going to tell your story, but it’s also going to speak to them and their pain point. This is where you can really start to relate to your ideal client and start nurturing that relationship. Now, once you do that, you want to make sure that you’re paying attention to the data that’s inside your email platform, whichever platform that you’re using. I’m currently using Flodesk and I love it. I have been with another provider for years and just recently started using Flodesk and the analytics. The designs are beautiful, there’s so much information. I’m really enjoying it. And if you’re interested, there’s also a 50% off link in here. I’m just going to give you the little quick Add right there. But I do like it. And I wouldn’t promote something that I don’t like. But they have great insights and analytics. And you want to make sure that you’re providing that you’re paying attention to that because that’s where you can provide real value.

[00:06:13.500]

You can find out what does your subscribers what do they want? What are they looking for? What are they clicking on. And then you can give them more of that. You can use personal stories also. Right. And that kind of shows that you’re real, that you’re human. And it shows a side of you that gives them a sneak peek behind the curtain. And we all love that. You also want to bring value in those emails. So talk to them about different strategies. And here’s a here’s an easy tip, right. When you’re writing your emails out to your subscribers, don’t worry about trying to make it perfect, right? Like you’re talking to your best friend and you guys are having coffee. Keep it authentic. Keep it real. Keep the corporate mumbo jumbo out of it. Don’t try to be perfect. Just be you. Now, this next thing that I want to talk about is SEO. SEO is search engine optimization. And this is so important when you want to be visible, but you don’t want all the stress of social media.

[00:07:18.330]

I love SEO because people find me that I’m not connected with on social. And isn’t that what we all want? We want people to find us on the internet when we’re the solution to their problem. So search engine optimization isn’t about technical tricks, it’s about being found by the right people at the right time. You have spent years building your expertise in SEO is how we make sure that the world can find it. So here are a few practical tips for SEO strategies. And again, when you’re when you’re writing the copy on your website and the copy is all the text, I caught myself one time, and I used the word copy a lot because that’s all the text that’s on your website. And I had a client actually say, I don’t even know what you’re talking about. What is copy? And I realized that sometimes I need to pay attention to what I’m saying because I get caught up in maybe languages, right, that not everybody understands, as we all do in our own industry. So when you’re writing out the copy on your website, use language that your ideal clients actually use, right?

[00:08:31.710]

Speak to them. Be authentic. Be real. But make sure you’re using their words. Now, how do you find out what their words are? You want to interview them? Talk to them. I talked about this a little bit earlier. When you interview them. I always encourage to video or record or something where you can pull the transcript and you can go back and look, because in the moment you’re going to forget a lot of the things that are said. You might take great notes. I love taking notes, but the first time I did this, I took notes and I got really big ideas down. But it was the language that my ideal client was using that I missed. So when you have that transcript, you can go back and look at it and just repurpose that into the content, into the copy of your website. Also, you want to create content that answers their real questions, and you’re going to find all that out when you interview them. Your website should also tell your unique story and position yourself as the go to expert in your field.

[00:09:35.390]

And when you start doing that and you put all that type of content in there, it’s going to help increase your SEO and there’s a lot more that goes into that. But that’s a good starting point for right now. Now keep in mind that your website is your digital home. A lot of people will start to build their business on social media, and social media is a great tool. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s a really great tool. It’s free to use, but you don’t want to build your business on social media. Your website is your digital home, your email is your personal connection and SEO. That’s the visibility amplifier. Those three things work so well together and that’s what’s going to get you seen in this noisy world. So here’s a little roadmap, right. I’m going to challenge you to do for this month whatever month you’re listening. If it’s December, which is when this is recorded or you want to start this in January, take a look at your foundation, audit your current online presence, and then create an irresistible lead magnet.

[00:10:48.080]

And also create that welcome email sequence that goes with that lead magnet. So do that in this month. Month one. In month two. I want you to focus on that strategic expansion. So take a look at your website and optimize it all ways that you can put those keywords in there, add more content to it. And I also want you to start writing consistent email marketing. Listen I know I get it. We have an email list and we start off and then life has happens, business happens. And we’re not consistent with our email marketing. I want you to make a commitment right now that you’re going to send an email, whether it’s once a week, twice a week, once a quarter, once a month, whatever it is that you can commit to commit to it and be consistent. Consistency is what wins. Also, in that second month, I want you to create some SEO friendly content. So this is beyond social media. I want you to think about what can you do?

[00:11:51.200]

Can you create a blog post? Are you going to start a podcast and put all that SEO rich content on your website, whatever it is, I want you to start doing that. Month three. Let’s focus on scaling and just really refining it. Take a look at everything. Analyze what’s working and when you find out what’s what’s working and where your strengths are, double down on your strengths. Adjust your strategy and be confident about it. Here’s the thing. We are always going to adjust our strategy. What we start doing today, we’re going to figure out that some things are working really well. And some things there’s a gap not working so much. Right. This is a constant. It’s just constant work in motion. Right. It’s always going to be changing. It’s always going to be evolving. We’re always going to rinse and repeat. So make sure you do that. Now here’s the most important thing. And this isn’t about keeping up. This is about standing out. Your years are not a limitation.

[00:12:56.180]

They’re your greatest competitive advantage. So whether you have been in the business for 20 years, 30 years, or you are just starting out right? That’s what matters.
